Tech Fantasy

I haven't posted in forever...... ....

A ZSketch blog went up and I've mostly just been looking at it. It's a blog within Zynga where artists (and non-artists too who just like to draw) do a quick daily sketch based on a daily theme.

I managed to squeeze in a 30 mins sketch this time. The theme was Technology meets Fantasy.

Since I used to play WoW... Here is a Night Elf Tron'd out. :)

A sketch of my own cat character. The art and style is inspired by Tracy J. Butler. She creates the Blackadaisy series. :)

New post!

Hey all!

Finally done with the semester a few days ago...Here is my final animatic for Art 118, Storyboarding class with Dave Yee. It is by all means not final at all...there's tons to do with it...by first off friggin' moving the frames to a template so it's stable....LOL...Lot's to revise in terms of making it more entertaining...but yea over the summer I hope to touch up on it, and then my Post-Production friend Mark will make the animatic 10x better, hehehehe!

....Sooooooo stooooppiiiddd!!!! ROFL......

What else... Oh yea!

So I won't announce everything I make, but these are my very first items released in FarmVille, so they are very special to me:

Come get your bouncy animals while the Playground Theme is up in FarmVille! :)

And that's about it for now...lots of side projects happening but it'll take some time to get stuff together and post about it.

Stay tuned! :D

"FairyVille" A personal project

So I've been working on a personal project called "FairyVille"...OBVIOUSLY highly influenced by Zynga!!! Woot woot! :D

So this fairy deal was actually something that's been in my head since...since I did the Hallmark workshop, which was...wow when was it? Hahaha! Well ok after I post this I'll look at my archives and pull out my original fairy painting. (EDIT: Ok I have too many archival posts...forget it!! LOL) Been developing it in my head and playing Zynga games just totally made it come together I guess ;).

Now my goal over the summer would be to vector and color all of these suckas! My friend Eric Neto, a programmer, may be interested in Flash programming, so it'll be ready for him to mess around with. I may have to make a User Interface thingy too then.

So in FairyVille you can choose your professions...it's essentially the profession part only from World of Warcraft hahaha!! You will go out and gather things to make and either sell or gift your friends.

You can custom your Fairy...

Choose his/her wings...

Different clothing and accessories...

And stuuufff!! You can tell that the artistic style is very curly and curvy! This will reflect on like pretty much everything in the FairyVille world! :)

More stuff!! Hahaha!

But yea...I'll post more as I draw them... they are usually doodles I do during class or when I'm bored :).

Stay tuned for moooorreee~!! :D

Characters for 118

So we're onto our final stories for 118!
My story briefly is the retelling of Orpheus' trip to the Underworld to bring back his dead girlfriend Eurydice. Only that Orpheus is a famous rock star with a lyre-guitar. He battles Hades and wins Eurydice back.

I will have to revise Hades, he's too similar and friends have suggested to make him much bigger and buffer, and use different shapes language. I was looking at Rob Zombie pictures, and he's definitely not very buff at all hahaha!

This was a back-up plan. The retelling of The Gift of the Magi with 2 homeless children. More "doll-like" so-to-speak I guess.

Anyways more to come soon! I'll see if I can color Orpheus and Hades if I have some spare time...supposed to be vectored and have flat, graphic colors with textures and what-not...

Stay tuned! :)

Stuffs

As promised, here's some stuff I've been working on: finishing up storyboards, making new ones, some sketches done during classes, vector clean-up for an internship, etc etc.

EDIT: Just tried to upload a video of a new storyboard, but it's the one-frame version where it's not timed out. Yea it didn't work out with Blogger's video format. If I have time I'll time it out and post it :).

I'll try to post more diligently like I used to do! :P

Uh I'm sure I have more...but I some Art History research to do...Hahaha!

Stay tuned! :)

Been forever...

Been forever since I've posted huh? Now that Spring Break started I promise to dump a huge post on just a bunch of random stuff I've been doing: sketches, vector clean up and animation stuff I'm doing for work, storyboards, etc.

For now you can check out http://artoflauralee.blogspot.com for an updated portfolio: it really does some of my most recent stuff.

But of course it doesn't have all the casual sketches I've been doing along the way...so stay tuned!! :)

Updated Animation!

So after a crit on Tues I got this so far:

video

I changed around a lot and it's muuuch better than the previous version, but it also created new things to fix! It's always like that of course :P. There's a lot of fast movement that I don't want in there so I'm gunna touch up on that, along with a list of other things to fix.

Oh yea did I mention that my teacher is Rex Grignon?? Head of Character Animator at DreamWorks/PDI! Suuuch a great teacher!! Yaay!! :D

I think after the weekend I should have another updated one to post!

Stay tuned! :)

Animation!

As promised here's an animation test I've been working on this semester. It's a 6-second limit test of a person in an idle state to noticing and realizing something. In other words he's in one state of mind at first, and then it changes because he hears something.

video

There's tons to fix but that's what I have so far. I'll post an update once I make all the changes.

Stay tuned for more! :)

More Maya Stuff!

For the lack of updates I'll post some of the Maya stuff I've just recently finished. These 2 are greebles from a Star Wars module, or in other words some parts of the surface of the Death Star. Working on a "hero" greeble now and I'll post that up soon. Otherwise I've been working on an animation but I don't have something put together to post up here, but I will very soon!! So stay tuned!! :)

Quick post

So I'm not quite back in the bay area yet but will be this Thurs! CSU Summer Arts was a fantastic experience!! I wish I can post some of the things I did there but they're mostly cleaning up Motion Capture data and editing, so I'm not really sure what I can post... I'll figure it out!

In the mean time...I've been lacking some posts here so I did a quick sketch:

Hope everyone is having a great summer so far!! :D

Nina

Hey guys!

Alas I was unable to do a small illustration this time... just way too busy! So instead here are some pictures of my new kitten Nina. She's about 2 months old now and I had her since June 1st :).
